Simple, daring and purple!

Today I went for a particularly plain outfit, black jeans and a plain grey long sleeve t-shirt, however on the other hand today I went for one of my particularly daring makeup looks…

I love deep purples (at the moment I’m in love with Barry M magnetic nail polish in the metallic dark purple stripes!) and with a plain (not too dark outfit) this makeup look looks great!!

  To start off with using the darkest colour from the rimmel eyeshadow palette Violet Romantic I fairly heavily darkened the crease of my eyelid.

I particularly like these eyeshadows as they blend super easy!!
  Next I used the lighter purple on the main part of my eyelid, slightly blending into the dark purple.

I also added a touch of the shimmer white to the very centre of my eyelid, this is to add highlights.

It may seem outrageous but go with me…

To create my ombré purple lips I used revlon balm stain in cherish devotion, a bright baby pink, I then used a liquid pen eyeliner in black (I usually have a cheap one especially for my lips) and literally colour from the inner corners of my mouth, being careful not to leave harsh lines!

Using the same lip stain I blend the eyeliner on my lips to create the purple lip! 👄
I also added a thin liquid eyeliner to finish my look 🙂

Beautifully Blended Blue

As you may have noticed blue has overtaken (and in particular lined the eyes) of many beautiful faces so far in 2016 – Diane Von Furstemburg literally flooded the runway with blue eyes, each model sporting it in a completely unique way;

Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and even Kendall Jenner strutted with cold eyes and beautiful butterfly inspired gowns…   img_0359-1 img_0357-1

I have been bed bound with bug for the past few days so today I decided to take part in the blue phenomenon that’s taking over to give myself a pick-me-up!

Here’s how I did my subtle everyday approach;

To start with I applied a generous amount of my No7 mini eyeshadow in 05 Island Sea to base the eyelid with colour – paying most attention to the outer corners of my eyelids and close to my lash line…

… I then worked in the darkest shade of my Bourjois Nude eyeshadow palette into the very outer corner of my eyelid bringing it slightly up and in the my eyelid crease.

I add brown to make my look more neutral and subtle, they are complementary colours… The darker the blue you use the darker the brown you complement it with!!

To finish off I added a thick black eyeliner with a bold, definite flick to reveal a striking look!!

Have you tried incorporating blue into your look yet???

Food & Facial

Once again I just want to mention how great it is to be at home, (however much I love being in Southampton studying Fashion Journalism and living an independent life with my boyfriend, Lewis) there’s just something about it; my own bed, my mum and dad, my three cats and a full fridge of food!!

My mum treated Lewis, my dad and I to burgers tonight from The Meat Counter… I don’t mean pathetic little burgers that may as well of come from McDonals, these were huge messy American style burgers, and damn they were yummy!!!

After a huge greasy meal (however delicious) my skin tends to feel oily and a bit dirty so instead of my usual cleansing routine I like to exfoliate and cleanse to really clean my skin.

I love Soap and Glory products and products by Simple, due to my combination (and very delicate) skin I find they are particularly kind to my skin yet very effective!

Its all about find the right brand of skin products that suit you’re own skin; once you’ve found a brand stick with it for a while to give it a chance then make your judgement on how successful it is.

  1. Making sure to thoroughly wash my hands first (to avoid dirt being spread) I wash my face then use the cleansing facial wash to remove any excess makeup residue left on my face. This works best when applied with cotton wool and left to soak in for a minute then washed away with clean warm water.
  2. After cleansing I moisturise using Simple Kind To Skin Night Cream (obviously using the day cream if I’m doing my routine in the morning) this just loosens my skins and hydrates it before exfoliating.
  3. I love Soap and Glorys Rub Your Nose In It exfoliating face mask, needing only a tiny amount me and my boyfriend can’t get enough of it! It’s amazing at deep cleaning and getting rid of dry skin, and leaves your face so soft!
  4. To finish off I rinse my face with cold water to ensure my pores are closed so that no dirt can enter and apply another small amount of moisturiser.

Friday in Falmouth – My Look

Today I went for a classy monochrome look!

It’s my boyfriends dad and soon to be step-mums wedding on the 3rd of March so we have come home from Southampton and are currently staying with my mum and dad in Falmouth (his dad lives in Porthtowan so it’s not a long car journey at all!).

I absolutely love coming home, to see mum and dad, of course, and my gorgeous cats!!! But I also love coming home to having full access of my mums wardrobe! – Though she may not know it! Sorry mum x

Through the term time buying new outfits is a no-go on a student budget, so rummaging through mums clothes and finding incredible pieces she may not give a  second thought to is the way I go about re-styling my wardrobe for uni!

A classic white blouse with black skinny jeans never goes wrong!!

Today I found this beautifully shirt from Jaeger, presumably a now vintage item! I’m in love with the off-White colouring and threaded diamond pattern! I dressed it up with a simple black pair of jeans from River Island and a pair of black, faux leather, ankle boots, also from River Island!

My makeup look is shown in my previous blog post however I’ve used No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in Plum Beautiful to finish the look with a hint of LFW and NYFW inspiration!
