“It’s coffee though? You drink tea.” – said my boyfriend. When I first discovered @groundedbodyscrub through beauty lovers on Instagram (follow me at LEOFBELLES) I had to place an order, after scrolling through numerous different fruity and yummy sounding scrubs I found the scrub for me; Lemon Tea Tree Facial Coffee Scrub! Yes please. Proven to help cleanse and actively reduce pores, I needed a healthy facial scrub in my life and at an incredible price of £8.95 I ordered two bags!!
The results are amazing, ‘use once to twice a week’ it states on the back of the packet, however, I can’t resist and sometimes use up to three times a week! Oops!! I like to use a very small quantity when applying to my face (and make sure you do it over a sink!) as its a loose product and tends to get just about everywhere!! I also find if you use too much at once you can’t exfoliate your sink as well as you can when using a reasonable amount; I usually use a pea drop size on each of the three main areas of my face… Both cheeks and forehead!
It’s smells amazing throughout using as well as after washing off, which was surprisingly quick and easy to do! During this time of the year I find I get particularly oily skin and it tends too look tired and dull a lot of the time, after using this scrub for now 3 weeks I have noticed a huge improvement!! My skin is glowing, my pores have reduced massively and my face is overall less oily and a lot smoother! I even use the scrub on my lips to reveal super soft puckers ready for lipstick that’ll last and look flawless!
Give it a try!
You can find all their scrubs here on their website or in some Boots stores!
Once again I just want to mention how great it is to be at home, (however much I love being in Southampton studying Fashion Journalism and living an independent life with my boyfriend, Lewis) there’s just something about it; my own bed, my mum and dad, my three cats and a full fridge of food!!
My mum treated Lewis, my dad and I to burgers tonight from The Meat Counter… I don’t mean pathetic little burgers that may as well of come from McDonals, these were huge messy American style burgers, and damn they were yummy!!!
After a huge greasy meal (however delicious) my skin tends to feel oily and a bit dirty so instead of my usual cleansing routine I like to exfoliate and cleanse to really clean my skin.
I love Soap and Glory products and products by Simple, due to my combination (and very delicate) skin I find they are particularly kind to my skin yet very effective!
Its all about find the right brand of skin products that suit you’re own skin; once you’ve found a brand stick with it for a while to give it a chance then make your judgement on how successful it is.
- Making sure to thoroughly wash my hands first (to avoid dirt being spread) I wash my face then use the cleansing facial wash to remove any excess makeup residue left on my face. This works best when applied with cotton wool and left to soak in for a minute then washed away with clean warm water.
- After cleansing I moisturise using Simple Kind To Skin Night Cream (obviously using the day cream if I’m doing my routine in the morning) this just loosens my skins and hydrates it before exfoliating.
- I love Soap and Glorys Rub Your Nose In It exfoliating face mask, needing only a tiny amount me and my boyfriend can’t get enough of it! It’s amazing at deep cleaning and getting rid of dry skin, and leaves your face so soft!
- To finish off I rinse my face with cold water to ensure my pores are closed so that no dirt can enter and apply another small amount of moisturiser.
Each day before applying my makeup I like to pamper and hydrate my skin. My skin is combination, therefore I get incredibly dry skin over the winter in particular yet my skin still gets so oily, I can’t stand it! To try to reduce the side effects of my combination skin showing through (and ruining) my makeup I use a variation of products!
My guilty pleasure brand is Soap and Glory, originally introduced to it by my amazing mum (the queen of Soap and Glory in my eyes) I am a sucker for the gorgeous smells and incredibly silky smooth textures of the Soap and Glory products.
These are my 5 favourite products which have made it into my daily morning routine!
My pre-makeup routine;
Butter Yourself Up – this moisturiser is so thick, I mostly use it on my body however my skin gets so dry that I find using a small amount on the areas that I know get particular dry on my face really helps… And works!
Glow Job – I love this moisturiser because it’s so light and silky, with beads of bronzer that burst when you rub into the skin, it really luminates skin and makes you glow! So after the first dabs of Butter Yourself Up soak in I apply a generous amount of Glow Job to tint and hydrate my whole face.
Super Eyes – this translucent gel appears glittery at first glance however once a tiny pea size drop is smoothed around the outer eye area and on the very top of the cheekbone it dries transparent and ever so slightly shimmery. Being at Uni and get little sleep every night I have noticed that I have started to get dark bags under my eyes. This gel is awesome, not only does it highlight and lighten the area around my eyes but also tightens the skin and actually makes me look more awake!
Primer – next I use the One Heck Of A Blot instant-perfecting power primer to base my face for foundation. This has to be one of the best primers I have used for my combination skin! I rave about this product to anyone and everyone, it’s magic powers control the shine of my oily face with its matte affect, it’s just the right thickness to hide imperfections and reduce redness without being clogging and heavy to wear.
Dirty Works – lastly to finish of my pre-makeup Soap and Glory routine I use a small dab of the lighter half of the Dirty Works concealer to add extra brightness to my under eyes. I also use the lighter concealer as a primer for eyeshadow on my eyelids, it’s so thin and allows makeup on top perfectly!
